Charities 2018/19

Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler’s Charities for 2018/19

Following a change last year, our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, David Littlewood, invited Conclaves in rotation to submit proposed Charities to receive a donation from the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler’s Charity Fund.

North Wales

North Wales Super Kids

This year, Chester Conclave No 155 offered North Wales Superkids as a worthy recipient. (www.northwalessuperkids.co.uk)

This growing charity offers several projects to help disadvantaged children and young people throughout North Wales.

For example, this year’s Toy Box Appeal supported 1616 young people throughout the area by giving them a parcel of Christmas presents, where they would not have received anything for Christmas. Work is already underway to provide a similar level of support for 2019.

Another incentive, the Holiday Project, provides static caravan holidays for young people and their families. The caravan, based in Hafan y More, Pwllheli, following the donation of £2,000 presented by the OSM members, will now be connected and ready for occupation from March.

Margaret Williams, founder of the charity, said she was delighted to receive the support from the local Freemasons, and looked forward to opening the refurbished caravan for business in the very near future.

David Littlewood, Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the OSM, said he was pleased to see the new system of referral working, and was happy for the Order to support such a deserving charity, who do such wonderful work throughout the North Wales area.

Cheshire

Wingate Special Children’s Trust

This year, Verney Clayton Conclave No 45 offered The Wingate Centre as a worthy recipient. (www.thewingatecentre.co.uk)

The Centre, based in Wrenbury, Nantwich, provides a safe environment where disabled children and their carers can take a holiday in a safe and specialist environment. They also offer the unique surroundings of a specialist gymnasium for disabled children of all abilities.

Victoria Robinson, Fundraising Manager, said that the charity receives no direct funding from the Government and all funds are raised through donations and use of the facilities. The £2,000 donated by the Order of the Secret Monitor will be well spent in several ways, but the equivalent will support 10 disabled children and their carers for a weeks holiday.

David Littlewood, Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the OSM, said he was pleased to see the new system of referral working, and was delighted for the Order to support such a deserving charity, who do such wonderful work supporting disabled children throughout Cheshire and beyond.
